Ali took the time to answer a few of our questions, and here they are:
1) When did you first realize that you want to produce music?
Art in general is a big part of my life. I have always been attached to it such as drawing, theater, and other forms. However, when it comes to music, it feels different. My interest triggered during high school, and I remember getting my first guitar during the 9th grade. What really was a good push for me was when two of my friends, one whom was a rapper and the other produced for him, and I kept on watching them and observing how things work. I initially started working with a DJ and being his assistant. However, when it comes to production, I have been working on it from a while now, and to this day I am still learning and finding myself in this field.
2) Have you ever thought of this as a career later on in the future?
Most producers wish to continue this as a future career. I mean, who wouldn’t want to have their hobby as a job on a daily basis? For me, it is a dream to continue my life as an artist and a producer, but I doubt it being an easy trip or road to walk on.
3) What do you think of the music industry 10 years ago compared to now? Do you think platforms such as SoundCloud made it easier for artists?
Music as an art form took changes in the past few years, simply because tastes developed and changed with time and new yet more complex instruments or methods to produce music were introduced to the industry. For example, in the past it took a musician a large set and scale to work on a single track, but now you can simply connect your headphones to your laptop and start something social media as a whole made things easier. Spreading the music or even helping in making the artist known easier. As artists, platforms such as YouTube, SoundCloud, Vimeo and more made it way easier for us to spread our music, not just locally but even worldwide!
4) Which genre do you like producing the most?
As a DJ, it is a very long list of genres to work with and play. But when it comes to production and making music, I am personally on the path of finding myself. Producers usually try working with everything that helps us to have more musical knowledge, but for now I just really enjoy working on Tropical House, Chill House, Trip-Hop and Big-Room.
5) If you could work with any artist in the industry, who would it be?
It is an endless list, but if I had to pick a few names then it has to be Kygo, Matoma, Diplo, XXYYXX and Avicii.
