Under The Spotlight: Louay Madanat

We’re constantly on the lookout for underground artists who are simply trying their best to receive the recognition they deserve. A few days ago, 17 year old Louay Madanat released a medley of his favorite pop hit songs on the piano which definitely caught the attention of many.

Fortunately, Louay took the time to answer a few of our questions. Here they are:

For those who don’t know you, tell us a bit about yourself!

I graduated from the Baptist School of Amman this year and I’m prepping for the next chapter of my life in the University of London, where I’ll be studying Biomedical Science. One of my biggest passions in life is music in its many forms, followed closely by pizza.

When did you start learning the piano? Do you play any other instruments?

I think it’s been about 11 years since I started playing the piano. I started taking lessons in 3rd grade and I finally passed my Grade 8 exam (the highest grade) last year. Since then I’ve had more freedom to play things I love that are also more unique, like my medley. I also played the trombone for 6 years for my school’s band which was awesome, but my main focus right now is on the piano.

Have you ever thought of composing your own music?

I try improvising on the piano every now and then, but composing had never really been something I thought about until recently. It’s still very new, but I’ve started learning music production, so you might find me releasing original EDM singles in a couple years!

Who influenced you the most to start playing the piano?

My brother used to play a bit back in the days which was how I first discovered it, but I think what made me continue with it and love it till now was the potential I saw to create something beautiful and the possibilities it opens up. Sort of like getting your drivers license.

Describe yourself in 3 words!

Ambitious, life-loving, optimist.
